The University of Houston Communications Office recently hired
a new assistant director and a media relations representative who
will assist in representing the university’s science, technology
and research to the media.
Richard Bonnin, former internal communications coordinator for
The University of Texas at Austin, fills the assistant director

programs, providing supervisory support and production oversight
while serving as a contributing writer and media relations representative.
“Richard is a seasoned professional whose experience will
be invaluable in helping us keep the media, the public and our own
campus community informed about the university,” said Eric
Gerber, director of University Communication.

a writer in the Office of Public Affairs and was named publications
editor a year later. He was appointed as coordinator for internal
communications in 2001.
“I am excited about the opportunity to work with a talented
team of professionals in University Communication,” Bonnin
said. “The University of Houston continues to grow in size
and stature. There are great stories to tell about the teaching,
research and public service going on here. I look forward to contributing
to that effort.”

Lamar University. He can be reached at 713-743-8155 or 281-840-9820.
