ENGINEERING EXAM PREP OFFERED AT UH
Review Courses Offered for Fall State Board Exams

HOUSTON, July 11, 2005 – Engineers planning to take state exams this October in preparation for obtaining their professional licenses can enroll in review courses offered by the University of Houston Cullen College of Engineering.

The Cullen College of Engineering offers review courses to prepare engineers for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE/P&P) examinations. Registration deadline for each course is Wednesday, Aug. 10.

The FE review course will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Aug. 25 through Oct. 13. The Mechanical Engineering (PE/P&P) review course will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings from Aug. 24 through Oct. 17. Each of the 15 two-hour sessions is held from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m.

A registration form, fee schedule and additional information are available on the Internet at http://www.egr.uh.edu/ContEd/ or by contacting Debbie Boyer, UH Cullen College of Engineering, at
713-743-1347 or dboyer@uh.edu. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each non-credit review course will present material typical of the particular test and will be taught by faculty and industry experts. Classes will be conducted at the UH campus.

The FE exam is the first step an engineering student or graduate must take to become a professional engineer. The PE/P&P exam is a test offered in a specific discipline of engineering and is taken after a prescribed number of years of engineering practice. Licensing as a professional engineer protects the public by ensuring that engineers have met certain standards of competency in education.
