Hello MVP volunteers my name is Maureen Durojaiye! I am a senior and I major in Health and Minor in Human Development and Family Studies. I have been in MVP for 3 years now and have enjoyed helping out our surrounding communities in third ward. I love volunteering because it lets me give my time helping individuals that need my assistance. It also puts my spirit in a happier mood to see people smile.
I am currently a sophomore at the University of Houston working to acquire my Mechanical Engineering major. Even though I have only been in Metropolitan Volunteer Program for one year, I feel that through my love and constant involvement in my community I live MVP’s Mission to strive for volunteerism. If I had to describe the feelings I get when I volunteer, one quote says it all. “There is no better exercise for your heart, than reaching down and helping to lift someone up.”
Hi volunteers!! My name is Courtney Brown and I am a senior who is majoring in Biochemistry/Biophysics. I love MVP and I hope that you will come and see what we are all about. Remember to never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

My name is Kiah Prevo and I am a senior Sociology major. Volunteering is important because it is a way for people to give back to their community and to help those who are in need. It is also a great way to be a part of something that is greater than you.

Enriching Houston Co–Chair
I am currently a junior in the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston. One of my biggest passions in life is helping others. I believe that volunteering is important because there is always someone out there that needs help or support and to know that I made an impact, no matter how great or small, to better that person’s life is one of the best feelings in the world.
My name is Shakeem Iyamah and I am a dedicated senior with Pre–med aspirations. I am a very social and cool kind of guy who stays ahead of the game. I enjoy volunteering because of the effect I can have on others, this world can be unfortunate sometimes but those who are blessed should always be able to lend a helping hand.
My name is Meghan Zarate and I am a senior majoring in advertising. I am currently one of the marketing co–chairs of MVP. I pursued a position in this organization because I understand the importance of community involvement. It is no longer enough to be a working student, and social responsibility is essential in developing oneself.
My name is Skye–Lynn and I am a sophomore at UH. My major is Kinesiology Sports Administration. I think volunteering is important because you get to help people that may be struggling a little or clean up the Earth a little. A little effort can go a long way. Volunteering also helps you grow as a person and discover who you are a little bit more.
