The University of Houston encourages faculty members to use online processes.  The use of online process reduces the time to provide feedback to the faculty member, is more cost-effective for the academic departments and university, as well as being more environmentally friendly. 

Faculty/course evaluations

MEC conducts end-of-course faculty/course evaluations each semester using online evaluation.  Individual faculty reports and various statistical reports for academic departments will be provided. 

Due to the heavy load of exam scoring during final exams, the processing of faculty/course evaluations will be conducted after the final exam period is over.

Students will be sent an email asking them to log in to the online evaluation system via AccessUH web site using their CougarNet account.  The responses are anonymous.  There will be no personally-identifiable information stored with the responses.  It is not possible for anyone to associate answers to students personally.  The instructors will not have access to the results of their evaluations until after final grades have been submitted.

Exam Scoring

MEC scores most of the university-scheduled course examinations. The center can generate reports such as student score reports and item analyses according to the instructor’s specifications.  Exams received by 2 p.m. are available for pick-up after 9 a.m. the following business day.  However, we will grade your test as soon as possible based on first-come, first-served.  It usually takes about 10 minutes to score exams per request (depending on the number of answer sheets for the exam).

Instructors must pick up the answer sheets within seven days.  If you plan to not pick up the answer sheets, please provide the envelope for us to send back the answer sheets via inter-office mail.  We are not responsible for the loss of answer sheets sent via inter-office mail.

Program Evaluation

MEC offers assessment and evaluation services to assist organizations in evaluating their goals, objectives, and performance outcomes.

Survey Research

MEC offers consultation with the design and administration of survey research projects. MEC can assist with the development of customized scannable forms for all types of projects, as well as the administration of large-scale, university-wide, and community surveys.

For a faculty member’s research project, a student’s dissertation, or a student thesis that involves scannable bubble sheets, MEC may be able to scan the data and provide a raw data file and preliminary statistical summaries if needed.
