MAES Mission

Originally founded in 1974, today our mission is to promote, cultivate, and honor excellence in education and leadership among Latino engineers and scientists. We strive for a future where Latinos are leaders in the engineering and science world.

Dues can be paid online or in person. If you want to pay in person please pay your dues to the Membership Coordinator or to any available officer.

You may also pay your dues during a MAES General Meeting or by visiting the MAES facilites.


MAES Fourth General Meeting

When: Tuesday, October 18
Time: 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: Agnes Arnold Hall 110

Come out to our fourth general meeting of the semester where you will have the chance to interact with the e-board. Come join us to be part of our MAES familia. You will have the chance to network with other MAES members while enjoying a free meal. Do not forget that attending this meeting will earn you some points.

Manufacturing Day at UH

When: Friday, October 7
Time: 9:00am - 11:30am
Location: Parking lot behind Engineering building 2

Come join us at our first outreach event at the University of Houston. In this event we will be presenting an engineering manufacturing hands activity to high school freshman girls. We need you to come make the best out of this event. It is also a great way to show your support for woman in engineering. If you would like to volunteer please fill the form below:

When: Friday, October 14
Location: NASA facilities

We will be taking a tour of NASA on October 14th. We can only take 5 people this time around so it will be first come first serve. Students need to be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident. Also, a deposit will be asked to be paid up front in order to reserve your spot. Please fill out the form below if you are interested:

Professional Panel

MAES will be hosting a Professional Panel in November. We would like to see the type of professionals our members would like to see there in order to accommodate everyone. Please pick one or two of the type of categories you would like to see in our professional panel in the form below.

Sophomores and Juniors!!

FMC Technologies, Inc. has openings for Mechanical Engineering students (sophomore and junior) for part time work during the school year at their facilities. This is a unique opportunity for students in this field, they will get to work along side engineers and gain valuable engineering experience while still in school. The pay is competitive and the hours are flexible around students schedules. Below is the contact person's email, his name is Andrew Lee.

If you are interested in volunteering as a tutor at Edison Middle School form 3:00pm to 5:00pm please let us know by filling out the form below. Your help can have a positive impact towards these kids!

Co-ED Soccer Games

When: Mondays
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: Recreation Center

Come out and support our Co-ED team at their second game. Go cheer them on while earning points and having fun.

Men's Soccer Games

When: Wednesdays
Time: 9:00 pm
Location: Recreation Center

Go support our Men's Soccer team as they go against other Men's team. Go cheer them on while earning points and having fun.

Co-ED Volleyball

When: Mondays
Time: 8:00 pm

Go out to support our Co-ED team in their first game. Go cheer them on while earning points and having fun.

Banquet Committee

When: December 1st

The end is so far, but we still need to start getting ready for the best. We are looking for a banquet committee to help us arrange our Banquet in December. Would you be interested in attending one of the biggest Hispanic Conferences this semester? If so, MAES will be attending the HENAAC Conference October 5-9th. Where you will meet and network with many companies and professionals along other MAES members across the nation. We will have great opportunities for you to stay active such as a decathlon team, college bowl and many company tours. Attention graduating seniors

If you are interested in acquiring a senior stole this semester, please be aware of the following information:

  • Must email stating your intent to get a stole by September 30th
  • $20 fee for the stole
  • Must be a senior
  • Show proof that you are graduating Fall 2016
  • Must be a paid MAES member
  • Must be a national MAES member
  • Must be active and do 1 social, 1 outreach event, and 1 professional
       event ex. Resume Critique.
