CURRENTS is Houston's only locally produced NEW AGE
and SPACE MUSIC program!CURRENTS is heard each and every Friday and Saturday night from 11pm till midnight on KUHF 88.7FM.
CURRENTS was started by Rohn Steelman on May 2, 1987, when he saw a new kind of music arriving from record companies, primarily from Windham Hill, Narada and Sonic Atmospheres. Rohn continued the program until March 25, 1989, at which time he left KUHF to join Music from the Hearts of Space, a similar program produced in San Francisco. (KUHF broadcasts Music from the Hearts of Space each Saturday at 10:00, just before Currents). On April 1, 1989, Ron Russak took over the reins of CURRENTS until October 15, 1994 when he left the station and handed the program over to Rick Nelson. In March of 1996 Tim Powell took over the production of CURRENTS. CURRENTS started its present two-night format in May of 1989.
