When we question our leaders, what is the right moment for revolution? Where is the line between our personal ambition, and the good of the people? When war hero Julius Caesar returns from battle in a wave of public support, his friends wonder if this is the leader that’s right for Rome. Shakespeare’s bold exploration of politics feels as timely and dangerous today and when it was written. Filled with keen strategy, ideals worth dying for and razor sharp language- this is a thriller not to be missed.
From the George Orwell book. Adapted by Peter Hall. Lyrics by Adrian Mitchell.
Music by Richard Peaslee
Directed by William Brown

George Orwell’s classic satirical novel of the events surrounding Russian Revolution of 1917 comes to life in this musical adaptation by Sir Peter Hall, founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company. In this imaginative story of barnyard revolution the animals, looking for a better life, take control from the interfering farmer. Their quest for this new life soon leads them to establish a totalitarian microcosm in which some animals are far more equal than others.
