Levels I, II, & III Teacher Training and Kodály Certification
The Kodály philosophy is an internationally recognized, highly sequential and experiential method for teaching music developed by Hungarian composer, musicologist, and educator Zoltán Kodály. At the heart of the philosophy is the belief that music education is a core subject that is the birthright of every child. It is a complete and comprehensive approach to music education that begins in early childhood.
The Moores School of Music Preparatory & Continuing Studies Kodály Certification program is an intensive, three-summer course of study. Each summer includes Personal Musicianship, Kodály Pedagogy and Practicum, Music Literature, Conducting, and Choral Ensemble. The course of study is divided as follows:
Level I: Pre-K, K, and Grade 1
Level II: Grades 2, 3 and 4
Level III: Grades 5 and 6*

Tuition for certification is $600. A parking pass is $20. Additional books and materials will be required (list to be provided). In order to secure your spot, please register by June 1st and provide a $100 non-refundable deposit.All students receive continuing education credit, and anyone interested may register for graduate credit towards a Master of Music in Music Education with Kodály Emphasis through the University of Houston Moores School of Music.
