Send in the clowns! Part fairy tale, part vaudeville, and part circus, this dazzling phantasmagoria of an opera will delight your ears and eyes with spectacle and high spirits. A prince is condemned to wander the earth in search of three oranges, the contents of which will make you look twice at your Minute Maid in the morning. We last produced this opera 14 years ago and it is one of our most requested revivals.

L’amico Fritz

Music by Pietro Mascagni

Sung in the original Italian with English titles projected over the stage

January 26, 2018 at 7:30 PM

January 28, 2018 at 2 PM

A warm and nostalgic romance set in the countryside, L’amico Fritz is Italian opera at its prettiest. Recalling the musical style of La bohème but without any deaths, the opera boasts a harvest of abundant melodies, including the beautiful Cherry Duet. You will hear why the title role was a favorite of Pavarotti.

The School for Scandal

Music by Robert Nelson

Libretto by Buck Ross

World premiere!

Based on the play by Richard Brinsley Sheridan

Sung in the original English with English titles projected over the stage

January 25,27,28,29, 2018 at 7:30 PM

Written especially for us by the creators of A Room with a View, this sharply witty comedy swiftly skewers the pretentious and exposes the frauds. No one is spared the rapier tongues of the gossips. Based on the 18th century classic comedy rendered anew in rhymed verse and song, this School will teach you that everything is not always as it seems to be on the surface.

The Italian Girl in Algiers

Music by Gioacchino Rossini

Sung in the original Italian with English titles projected over the stage

April 6,7,9, 2018 at 7:30 PM

April 8, 2018 at 2 PM

When you are shipwrecked far from home and taken prisoner by Algerian pirates, you can either surrender to a cruel fate, or you can do what our heroine does: waste no time single-handedly conquering the entire nation!  Culture clash takes on a whole new meaning in Rossini’s funniest opera.
