"The Power of Political Satire: A Conversation with Bassem Youssef and Jòn Gnarr”

Tuesday, May 2, 2017 3 pm - 5 pm

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts and UH School of Theatre & Dance present a conversation with renowned political satirists Bassem Youssef and Jòn Gnarr.

Egyptian surgeon-turned-satirist Youssef, dubbed the “Jon Stewart of the Arab World,” was the host of the popular TV show AlBernameg before its cancellation due to political pressure. Gnarr is an Icelandic actor, writer and comedian, known for founding The Best Party in Iceland and being elected Mayor of Reykjavík. Together, they will discuss the power of political satire on a global stage.

The discussion will be moderated by Rob Shimko, director of the UH School of Theatre & Dance.

Seating is limited. Reserve your free tickets now at http://bit.ly/2oM9XEY!
