| Dr. Barton Smith, University of Houston economics professor, heads the Institute for Regional Forecasting. He is joined by two additional professionals who are equally dedicated to making the IRF into the most user-friendly urban economics extension service in the country. We are so pleased that we have been able to acquire the expertise and enthusiasm of these individuals and have great confidence in the future with them aboard. Be aware, however, that most of our staff are only serving the IRF part time. Dr. Smith works with the Center for Public Policy's Institute for Regional Forecasting while at the same time having a full teaching load of graduate and undergraduate courses within U of H's economics department. Evert Crawford and Dr. Ron Welch have active consulting businesses, which take half of their time. To be fully responsive to the community's needs, a schedule has been developed so that a member of the IRF staff will always be available during posted office hours to answer questions. As the IRF funding expands and the program grows, the IRF anticipates adding even more staff members to ensure the greatest possible benefits to the community. |
