Who can access SkillPort eLearning via the web?

SkillPort eLearning is accessible via the web by all University of Houston System (UH Main, UH Downtown, UH Clear Lake, UH Sugarland, UH Victoria, and Cinco Ranch) students, faculty, staff and alumni.


How much does it cost to access online courses and books via the web?

Nothing. Access via the web is FREE to all University of Houston System students, faculty, staff and alumni.


What is my SkillPort User ID and Password?

Your User ID is the same as your PeopleSoft ID. Your Password is your birthdate in the format of mmddyyyy, e.g. 09221978. If you have any problem logging into SkillPort, please call the UIT Support Center at 713-743-1411 to verify your SkillPort User ID has been set up.

Note: If you do not yet have a UH PeopleSoft ID, you may apply for one at the UIT Support Center in Tech Commons, room 56 of M.D. Anderson Library (in the basement). For more information, call the Support Center at 713-743-1411.

When I enter my User ID and Password, I get the message "Login name and password do not match for user: xxxxx" where xxxxx is my User ID. What should I do?

First, verify you are entering your PeopleSoft ID rather than your userid for a particular network, such as CougarNet. Then retry once or twice in case you have mistyped your User ID or Password. If you still fail to login, call the UIT Support Center at 713.743.1411. If you need to be added to the system, the Support Center will need your name, primary PeopleSoft ID, and birthdate to do so.


Can I change my password?

No, you cannot change your password.


Who do I contact if I have problems with the SkillPort website?

If you have a problem logging into SkillPort, please call the UIT Support Center at 713-743-1411 to verify your SkillPort User ID has been set up.
For other technical problems, call the Support Center or SkillPort Technical Support, which is available 24 hours, 7 days a week at 1-866-754-5435. However, please call the UIT Support Center if any problem reported to SkillPort Technical Support goes unresolved.


If I exit a course on the web before completing it, can I return to it at a later date and pick back up where I left off?

Yes, but the way bookmarking works in a business skills course is a little different than how it works in a technical skills course. If you leave a business skills course and return, you will be returned to the exact same page you left. However, if you leave a technical skills course, you will only be returned to the same section you left, not the same page.


How do I install the SkillPort eLearning CDs on my machine?

To install the SkillPort CDs, consult the following Word document, or call 713-743-1411.
