Password Reset
The Information Technology Support Center offers a secure online tool to reset your password(s) for the following IT-managed accounts:
- Bayou.uh.edu
- Central Web Server (www.uh.edu accounts)
- CougarNet/Exchange/VPN
- ECC_UNIX
- UHHR-Training
- UHVPN
- VNet
- WebCT Vista
Password Format
You may choose either to accept a system-generated password or create your own password.
A system-generated password will be eight characters long and will consist of at least one letter (upper and/or lower case), one number, and one special character (from a designated list). The system-generated password will be unique.
If you choose to create your own password, the password needs to be exactly eight characters long and consist of at least one letter (upper and/or lower case), one number, and one special character (from a designated list).
The password will be displayed on your screen and, if you specify, can be sent to your UH e-mail alias. Once submitted, your new password will become active in approximately 10 minutes.
Supported Browsers
For Windows, the site supports:
- Firefox, version 1.0.6 and above
- Internet Explorer, version 6.0.029 and above
- Netscape, version 8.0 and above
For Macintosh, the site supports:
- Firefox, version 1.0.6 and above
- Mozilla, version 1.7.11 and above
- Netscape, version 7.2
The Safari browser is not supported.
Configuring Your Computer
Prior to entering the Web site, you will need to configure your browser to ALLOW pop-ups for this site: remedyweb.uh.edu. Failing to allow pop-ups requires that you restart your password reset session. For instructions on configuring your browser, click here.
Registering for First Time
On your first use, you will need to register by providing the following information:
- ID Number, which may be any of these
- Date of Birth
- Security Question and Answer that you will make up
Resetting Your Password
To start the password reset process, answer this question: Is your browser configured to ALLOW pop-ups for 'remedyweb.uh.edu'?
- YES, pop-ups are allowed for my browser, BUT it's my first time and I need to register.
- YES, pop-ups are allowed for my browser, AND I have registered before, so take me to the Password Reset.
- NO, I need instructions to configure my browser to allow pop-ups.
