How do I configure my computer to allow for pop-ups?

Prior to entering the website, you will need to configure your browser to ALLOW all pop-ups or allow pop-ups for this specific site: remedyweb.uh.edu. Failing to allow pop-ups requires you to restart your Computer Account Management session. For instructions on configuring your browser, click here.

Why was there a change in the way the password reset formulates the password?

The main reason for making the password complex is to increase the security of the password. Using complex passwords can minimize unauthorized access to University systems, applications, and data.

How is the password formatted?

Creating Accounts:

The password to the computer accounts you create will be your date of birth in the format MMDDYYYY (M=month, D=day, Y=year). Your computer accounts will be ready for use in approximately 10 minutes. It is strongly recommended that you change your password on your initial logon.

Resetting Passwords:

You may choose either to accept a system-generated password or create your own password.

A system-generated password will be exactly eight characters long and will consist of at least one letter (upper and/or lower case), one number, and one special character (from a designated list). The system-generated password will be unique.

If you choose to create your own password, the password needs to be exactly eight characters long and consist of at least one letter (upper and/or lower case), one number, and one special character (from a designated list).

The password will be displayed on your screen and, if you specify, can be sent to your UH email alias. Once submitted, your new password will become active in approximately 10 minutes.

I added a new CougarNet account, but I cannot login with the UHWireless web login or VPN software. Why not?

Currently, when a new CougarNet account is created, the initial password is the date of birth in the format MMDDYYYY (M=month, D=day, Y=year). You will not be able to use a newly created CougarNet account with the UHWireless web login or VPN software immediately. Once a CougarNet account has been created, you must change your password at first logon from a computer on-campus in the CougarNet domain.
