Purpose
To ensure the physical security and appropriate environmental protection of its information resources, a department should have a strategy for securing equipment.
Scope
Departmental management, technology staff, and users.
Process Overview
- Review and follow established guidelines for ensuring the physical
security of university hardware, software, and data from conditions such
as:
- Theft
- Weather conditions
- Environmental conditions
- Power outages
- Read the documentation that came with your computer to determine how to set up your computer.
- Select appropriate locations for computer equipment.
- Raise end-user awareness on how to secure equipment.
