Purpose
To protect against malicious code, a department should have a strategy to safeguard computer systems with anti-virus software.
Scope
Departmental management, technical staff, and users.
Process Overview
- Evaluate your computer resources.
- Ensure all systems that are able to use anti-virus software have it installed.
- Develop a strategy for applying anti-virus software and virus definition updates as soon as possible when they become available. This should include a method of notification of new updates.
- Apply updates in a timely manner to ensure the performance and security of the university's information resource technologies.
