Computer Accounts
IT provides computer accounts to UH faculty, staff, and students enrolled in classes at UH for the purpose of supporting instructional, research, and administrative activities. These include
- electronic mail (email) accounts,
- Windows domain accounts (CougarNet),
- instructional or class accounts (including WebCT),
- web server accounts, and
- administrative business systems accounts.
In addition, IT provides faculty and staff the ability to request sponsored accounts for persons not normally granted access to university computing account resources.
To apply for computer accounts, customers should contact the ITSC at 713-743-1411. Consultants will assist in determining the appropriate accounts for individual computing needs and creating the accounts.
Computer accounts are available on the following IT-managed enterprise systems:
- Email Servers
- Exchange: email server used by staff and faculty
- Mail.uh.edu: email server used by students, staff, and faculty
- Windows Domain and Virtual Private Networking (VPN):
- CougarNet: for student, staff, and faculty use
- Instructional Systems
- Web Server
- www.uh.edu: UH central web server
- Administrative Business Systems
- ADMIN: administrative uses
- myUH (PeopleSoft): administrative uses
