- How do I get to my voice messages?
There are different ways you can get to your voice messages:
From your Cisco IP Phone - Press the Messages button on your Cisco IP phone or dial 29400 (832-842-9400)
From your ROLM Phone - Press the Message Waiting (MSGWT) button on your ROLM phone or dial 38400 (713-743-8400)
From another phone - Dial your own office phone number. When your greeting starts playing, press * and then enter your password and press # - I'm not near the phone on my desk. How can I get my voice messages?

The weekend of June 13-14, 2009. It will run from 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 until 10 a.m. Sunday, June 14. (We have already successfully migrated Cisco IP Phone customers to the new voice messaging system.) - Will my current settings change?
Your personal greetings and other settings will not change as a result of this update. - Will my password change?
No, your password will not be changed as a result of this update. - It won't accept my password and I can't get to my messages. What do I do?
If you're getting an "Invalid Logon" Prompt, you probably entered an incorrect password. When prompted, first enter your mailbox number (extension), then enter your correct password. - What do I do if I forgot my password?
Contact the IT Support Center at 713-743-1411. - I have a Cisco IP Phone. Does the ROLM phone voice messaging update affect me?
No. We have already successfully migrated Cisco IP Phone customers to the new voice messaging system. - How do I find out when a message was sent?
Press 5 while listening or after listening to the message. - How do I erase a message?
Press 7 after listening to the message to erase it. While listening to a message, you can fast-forward to the end by pressing 3 3, and then press 7 to erase it. - How do I save a message?
Press 9 after listening to the message to save it. While listening to a message, you can fast-forward to the end by pressing 3 3, and then press 9 to save it. - Where can I get another UH Voice Messaging Quick Check card?
Go to www.uh.edu/voicemail . Go to the Resources box and click either UH Voice Messaging for Cisco IP Phones Quick Check or UH Voice Messaging for ROLM Phones Quick Check. - How do I find someone's phone number?
You can use the UH Google Search at www.uh.edu/search or the Search box on the UH home page at www.uh.edu . - Is documentation and training available for the voice messaging system?
Yes. Documentation and web-based training are available at www.uh.edu/voicemail . - How do I leave someone a voice message without calling their phone?
You can do this from within the voice messaging system.- Log in to the voice messaging system (press the Messages or Messages Waiting (MSGWT) button on your phone or dial the access number
(for Cisco IP phones, 29400 (832-842-29400);
for ROLM phones, 38400 (713-743-8400)),
enter your mailbox number (extension) and password). - Press 2 to select "send a voice message."
- At the tone, record your message, then press #
- Enter the desired mailbox number (extension), then press #
- Enter the next mailbox number, then press #
- When finished addressing, press # #
- To send the message, press #
- Log in to the voice messaging system (press the Messages or Messages Waiting (MSGWT) button on your phone or dial the access number

Setting the Ring Type on a Cisco IP Phone- Press the Settings button on your Cisco IP Phone.
- Use the arrow button to go to Ring Type and press the Select button.
- Use the arrow button to go to Default Ring and press the Select button.
- To hear what a ring sounds like, go to the ring you want to hear and press the Play button. (You can use the arrow key to get to more choices than the screen can show at once.) Use the Volume buttons to adjust the volume.
- If you didn't find the ring you wanted, or to hear more, use the arrow button to go to your phone extension (the last five digits of your phone number) and press the Select button. (You may need to press the OK or Cancel button first.)
- To choose a ring, go to the ring you want to use, press the Select button (a check mark will appear next to the name of the ring), and then press the OK button. The selected Ring will appear on the screen.
- To finish, press the Exit button.
- How do I find out how to use my Cisco IP phone?
There's an online tutorial for the Cisco IP phone model 7960 at www.uh.edu/voicemail on the Resources page. - How do I find someone's phone number from a Cisco IP phone?
You can use the Corporate Directory by pressing the Directories button on your phone and using the arrow button to go to Corporate Directory and press the Select button. You can also use the UH Google Search at www.uh.edu/search or the Search box on the UH home page at www.uh.edu . - Where do I get more information?
