Printer Kiosk
UIT provides two printer kiosks for students. There are times when having access to a printer can be a challenge. These printer kiosks are designed for students who are constantly on-the-go, and need to quickly print to a printer from their laptop or home computer.

Billing

The printer kiosks use the Cougar Card system for billing the print jobs. All UH students receive $7.50 per semester of print quota that is associated with their Cougar Cards. Each page printed form the printer kiosk system will cost $0.02. Any amount over the $7.50 per semester allocated to each student, will be billed to their CougarCard account.

Locations

The primary printer kiosk is located in the basement of the MD Anderson Library, in the lobby of the Technology Commons computer lab.

The secondary printer kiosk is located on the 2nd floor of the Graduate College of Social Work, immediately to the left, as you get off of the elevator, in the small lounge area.

Installing Drivers

To use the printer kiosks, students will need to install the printer drivers on their computers. Drivers are currently available for 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

The Mac installers for Tech Commons and GCSW have been combined into one installer.

Click on your desired driver in the list above. In the dialog box that appears, click Run to start the installation. If a security-warning box appears, click Run. When Package UIT Printer Kiosk Client Installer appears, click Install. After the installation, click Finish. Select Start -> Settings -> Printers and Faxes. In the Printers and Faxes list, you will see the name of the kiosk printer you have installed.

Printing to a Kiosk

Select Print from the File menu of your document. In the Print dialog box that appears, select the Technology Commons kiosk or the GCSW kiosk. Click Ok.

A password dialog box appears, enter any password you want and remember it, because you will need it to release the print job from the printer kiosk. Walk to the printer kiosk to retrieve your print job.

Retrieving Your Print Job

To retrieve your print job from the printer:

  • touch the screen at the kiosk
  • swipe your Cougar Card
  • press enter to see all print jobs in the queue
  • touch your print job
  • press Print
  • enter the password that you entered when you sent your job to the printer
  • press [return] on the keyboard
  • press Exit
The amount on your Cougar Card will appear after you swipe your Cougar Card.
