Downloading McAfee Virex for Macintosh

- To download McAfee anti-virus software:
- Click on the name of the anti-virus software you want to download.
- By default, the file Virex7.gz will be placed on your desktop. It will automatically expand into a folder called Virex 7.
- If you already have anti-virus software installed on your computer, whether it is a
different version of McAfee or a different software package from another vendor, you MUST
uninstall it before installing the software you just downloaded. Consult your software manual for
instructions. By default:
- Go to the Dock, and click on Finder.
(The Dock is the icon bar that is by default located at the bottom of the screen.) - Click on the Applications icon on the Finder window.
- Drag the folder containing the previously used anti-virus software to the Trash icon on the Dock.
- Go to the Dock, and click on Finder.
- To install your new McAfee anti-virus software:
- Double-click on the Desktop folder Virex 7.
- Double-click on the file Virex7.pkg.
- Enter the administrator username and password when prompted.
(You may need to click on the lock icon to enter the password.) - Click on Continue.
- Click on Continue again to bypass the Release notes.
- In the Licensing window, click on Continue, and in the window that pops up, click on Agree to continue the installation.
- In the Destination window, click on the disk where you want to install the software. This is usually Macintosh HD or OSX. Then click Continue.
- Click on Install to perform a basic install.
- A dialog will alert you that this installation requires a restart upon completion. Click on Continue Installation to complete the installation.
