Imagine a future where offshore wind turbines with huge blades generate electrical energy for Texas, at a reasonable price. That's the vision of wind energy researchers Su Su Wang and Ray Flumerfelt, both professors at UH. Wang teaches mechanical engineering and Flumerfelt is the former dean of the Cullen College of Engineering. The two men are developing a major laboratory for exploring the possibilities of wind energy technology. The facility, the National Wind Energy Center, will operate at the Energy Research Park (ERP) with funding from the Department of Energy and the State of Texas.
