Many faculty and staff have reported receiving an increased number of phishing messages today.  Many of the messages have one of the following subject lines:

  • FW: Warning
  • MICROSOFT
  • FW; Last Warning

These messages attempt to intimidate users into providing their user ID and password by informing them that their email accounts have been suspended and request verification of account information to reactivate the account.  UH will never ask a user to verify an account via email.

UIT Security is working with the websites where the phishing pages are being hosted to remove the phishing content.
