Event Updates
Customers are reporting inability to access some Internet websites from E-Cullen, Law Center, University Center Agnes Arnold Hall, College of Architecture Building, and Calhoun Loft Apartment, Technology1, Technology 2, Hilton College (whole Building), UHS Cinco Range, Heyne Building, room 214, 220, 208. SR1, various room, SRC, 22nd floor, CBB, and M.D. Library.
SME is still investigatiing these reports. The estimated time to repair is unavailable.
The Internet issues related to the website that used “akamai” distributed content. One or more of the UH-hosted Akamai content servers were having operational problems. Akamai monitors for this issue and redirects to non-UH Akamai sites when this occurs through use of alternative DNS resolution. But the clients that encounter problems before the Akamai alterative DNS entry, they continue to “cache” the Akamai DNS entry locally and continue to try to resolve to the UH-hosted Akamai server. Until that client’s DNS cache is reset (like a reboot), it will continue to have issues with Akamai sites (like www.apple.com for example).
SME is rebooting the UH-Hosted Akamai servers.
