Event Updates
A malware program known as DNSChanger is active on an estimated half a million computers. If DNSChanger is not removed before Monday morning, these computers will be unable to connect to any website. The malware will change the domain name service (DNS) settings to a fake DNS system. This fake system was taken over by the FBI last year and will be turned off Sunday night. With no DNS access an infected computer will be unable to get a network address for any web server on the internet.
UIT recommends that you update your anti-virus software before midnight, Sunday July 8th, and run a scan of your computer. Also, several sites have a domain name service (DNS) test page you can use to test your DNS setting.
