  • UH Kicks Off Commitment to Steinway Pianos at Oct. 17 Football Game

    During Friday’s University of Houston/Temple University football game, fans can enjoy a spectacular performance of “Rhapsody in Blue” by UH professor Timothy Hester and the Spirit of Houston Marching Band. Hester will add a touch of “Cougar Red” to “Rhapsody in Blue” as he will perform on a scarlet Steinway.

  • Virtual Patients Come Alive in New Simulation Lab at UH

    This fall, UH optometry students began hands-on training in a first-of-its-kind simulation lab that offers them 24/7 access to virtual patients. The lab is the only one at an optometric program in the country and the largest in the world.

    The University of Houston is a finalist for the Innovation & Economic Prosperity University Awards, sponsored by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.

  • Alley Theatre's History Celebrated at UH

    Starting Oct. 25, UH’s M.D. Anderson Library will present “Nina Vance and the Alley Theatre: A Life’s Work.” This exhibition runs through May 8 and showcases numerous classic programs, photographs, articles and other items that capture the Alley’s rich, colorful history and its impact on Houston.

    While science is increasingly moving in the direction of interdisciplinary research, a recent Nature Physics commentary says changes need to be made in academia to allow a more collaborative model to flourish.
