Preliminary fall enrollment at the University of Houston, based on the 12th day of classes, is 40,959, the largest in the history of the institution. It represents a growth of 3.6 percent over last fall.
Audiences are accustomed to quality performances and dynamic stagecraft from the students of the University of Houston. Soon, Houstonians will have even more opportunities to experience the talents being groomed at UH’s School of Theatre & Dance.
This year marks the 13th anniversary of the Mars Rover Model Celebration and Exhibition at UH. On Sept. 20 and 27, UH will host workshops to prepare teachers for coaching their students through the planning and completion of operational rover models.
The singers from the University of Houston’s Moores Opera Center are taking a brief detour from their usual repertoire. On Sept. 23, they will transplant their talents from the opera house to one of Houston’s most popular nightclubs for an evening of Broadway hits.
Paul Chu, T.L.L. Temple Chair of Science and founding director of the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston, will lead a group of investigators as they build a one-of-a-kind piece of equipment designed to further their research and ultimately help make superconductivity and thermoelectricity more commercially viable.
