The concept of institutional effectiveness presumes that an institution is engaged in an ongoing, comprehensive pursuit for quality and can demonstrate how well it fulfills its purposes as defined by the mission. The university is expected to document quality and effectiveness by employing a comprehensive system of planning and evaluation in all major aspects of the institution including teaching, learning, research, service, administration, and educational support.

The staff of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness is available to help colleges and departments plan, write, and evaluate IE plans.
