Interdisciplinary Learning
The Industrial Design program has a vision to reconstruct the nature of design and its activities by integrating knowledge from many disciplines. From the inside loop of the Architecture program (diagram right) to the extended boundaries of medical industry and space research area, the learning context in Houston and the State of Texas provide unique and challenging experiences to the faculty and the student.
An example of this interdisciplinary approach can be seen in the following course. Students should consult their professor regarding any Special Design Problem course.
INDS 3398 Special Design Problem
(EunSook Kwon with Larry Bell, ARCH 5500, Fall 2004)
Junior and seniors may take an elective in conjunction with the SICSA program. INDS 3398 investigates innovative approaches of building a vehicle and its related communication/control devices to be operated on the surface of the Moon and the Mars, with the collaboration of ARCH 5500.
