Mandatory Training
It’s mandatory training season and
employees across campus are being notified
of their required training available online
through UHS Professional Development &

completed by December 31, 2007. If the
assigned courses are not completed by the
deadline, their associated accesses and/or
privileges will be revoked.
Monthly course completion reports will be
distributed to College/Division
Administrators and Division Vice Presidents.
But did you know that you can also monitor
your own course status through PASS where
the information is updated nightly? To learn
how, go to
http://www.uh.edu/admin/hr/passhelp/trainingsummary.htm
For assistance, please call the Customer
Service Center at 3.3988.

positive relationships with everyone
around you.
What I Like Best About My Job:
I like the people I work very much.
I also enjoy working in higher
education where I can view
educational issues from a different
perspective.
What Amber’s Colleagues Say:
Denisse Sioss says Amber is “in

Who::
Elizabeth Bullock
Academic Advisor 3
Years of UH Service:
9 Years
Department:
Bauer College of Business
Accountancy & Taxation
How to Contact Me:
ebullock@uh.edu or 3.5936
Where to Find Me:
Melcher Hall room 275
When to Call Me:
I am the graduate advisor for the
Masters of Science in Accountancy
Program. I also manage the
Accountancy & Taxation Professional
Program.
Helpful Hint:
Because we’re in a profession that
does a lot of interacting, giving,
and supporting, advisors need to be
reenergized. We need to look for
those things for ourselves, so that
we can keep doing what we need to
do. I recommend joining an advising
organization such as NACADA and
networking with colleagues within
the advising community as sources of
support. We should also care for
ourselves and take time off.
What I Like Best About My Job:
I enjoy being able to assist people
with achieving their educational and
professional dreams.
What Elizabeth’s Colleagues Say:
Troy Hopkins says “Elizabeth is the
advisor for the Masters in
Accounting Program which is a fast
paced master’s program with very
demanding students. She does a great
job of helping her students and also
coordinates the daily operations of
the Professional Accounting Programs
office. She is a great asset to the
department and the Bauer College of
Business and should be recognized.”

Changes to 403(b)(7) Regulations
Effective September 25, 2007 the Internal
Revenue Service (IRS) has made changes to
the regulations that govern the
administration of 403(b)(7) programs.
Employees who are currently contributing to
the Optional Retirement Program and/or a Tax
Deferred Annuity may be affected.
Newly issued IRS 403(b)(7) account
regulations significantly impact the ability
of retirement plan custodians to accept
transfers and exchanges which are currently
permitted under the IRS Ruling 90-24 ("90-24
Transfers"). Transfers, distribution
requests, loan requests and new account
openings will require the approval of the
human resources - benefits department.
It is imperative that you contact your
vendor to see how these changes may impact
you. Your human resources department is in
the process of evaluating how other changes
in the regulations may impact our current
practices. We will continue to communicate
any changes to ensure that we are in
compliance with these regulations and to
safeguard our program.
These changes do not affect participants in
Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or voluntary
457 Deferred Compensation Program.
