New Fraud and Ethics Training

From October 10 to October 19, all employees (full-time and part-time) at all UH System components are being enrolled in Fraud Awareness and Prevention training and Code of Ethics training, which are two separate online classes.

In July 2004, Governor Rick Perry issued Executive Order RP36 related to preventing, detecting, and eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse. One of the ways we address fraud is through training. Fraud Awareness and Prevention training covers how to recognize fraud, prevent it, and report it (anonymously, if desired).

In addition, House Bill 590, which became effective September 1, 2007, requires all state agencies and institutions to distribute a copy of its ethics policy to existing employees by January 1, 2008 and to new employees by their third day of employment. Code of Ethics training covers standards of conduct for UH System employees, as outlined in SAM 02.A.29, Ethical Conduct of Employees.

All employees will receive two emails (one for Fraud Awareness training and one for Ethics training) similar to the one below between now and next week.

Hello:

You have been enrolled in the on-line Fraud Awareness class. Please read the Fraud Awareness Training Printout file for additional information.

The class must be completed by December 31, 2007.

You may need your local technical support person to install/upgrade the QuickTime Viewer and Adobe Acrobat. You must have QuickTime in order for you to view the class. The links to upgrade/install QuickTime and Adobe Acrobat are provided at the class site.

Please use the link below to take the class. The class includes a quiz. You must get 80 or better.
