Mandatory Training – Finish 1st and Win!

The Division of Administration and Finance would like to reward those departments on campus who successfully complete all required training. Therefore, the first three departments who notify Business Services of their completed training will be rewarded with an Ice Cream Sunday party. All employees in the department must complete all mandatory training courses, and Business Services must be able to verify this information in PeopleSoft.

I manage the administrative, financial and human resources operations for seven of the departments within University Advancement. I am knowledgeable of the University's policies and procedures and ensure my units stay within compliance in accordance to the M.A.P.P.

When you are looking for information, whether related to a major research project, a class paper, or just something good to read, the library is a great place to start because it is filled with people who want to help you.

What I Like Best About My Job:
Next to the president (she gets a house), I have the best job on campus because I work with the brightest students who are focused, hard-working, and dedicated in their efforts to provide quality services.

NEW HR Director

Brian K. Dickens is new to the University of Houston Central Campus serving as a Director in the Human Resources Department. He is primarily responsible for directing the activities and functions of the Employment/Recruitment and Benefits work teams.

Brian comes to us with over thirteen years of experience as a university administrator and over seven years of experience as a human resource development and management consultant focusing on leadership and management development. He has provided organization development services and training services for managers and employees to enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency, individual and work group performance, and the overall quality of work environments. He is committed to the pursuit and delivery of excellence through service.

Currently, Brian is completing his Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University. He has a B.S. in Biology and a M.A. in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University.

Mr. Dickens is very active in his community and an active member of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Dickens maintains memberships in various professional organizations that include The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), HR Houston, American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), and the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). Brian has enjoyed membership in the 100 Black Men of America Houston (BMOAH) since 2003 and currently serves as an executive board member to the Houston Metropolitan Chapter. In addition, Brian has recently been selected to serve on the African American Male Advisory Committee (AAMAC) for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in Austin, Texas.

Brian K. Dickens resides in Houston, Texas with his wife Dr. Shannon Presley-Dickens and their two children William Blake Dickens and Ryan Rebecca Dickens.
