Your Cell Phone & UH Emergency Communication
President Renu Khator has asked me to remind
you how seriously we take the safety and
security of our campus community. During a
crisis, we want to make sure you have the
latest emergency information from the
University of Houston.
But, as
Hurricane Ike so powerfully reminded us,
communicating reliably during an emergency
can be a real challenge. One of our most
important communication options is your cell
phone. When other media such as television,
radio, landline telephones and the Internet
aren't operational, your cell phone may
still receive vital calls and text messages
from the university. During Hurricane Ike,
we were able to provide thousands of your
fellow staff members with crucial
information because they chose to give us
their cell phone numbers - information that
we weren't able to send to your phone.
Won't you take a few moments to add your
cell phone number to your Emergency Contact
Information? That number will be used only
for official university business in extreme
circumstances and will not become part of
any public listing.
We've made adding your number easier than
ever.
Do It Yourself. You can go online to
your
P.A.S.S. account and click on
Personal Information where you can add
or update your cell phone number under
Personal Information Summary. Remember
to click "save" when you're finished.
Do It by Phone. Call the
Administration & Finance Customer
Service Center at 713.743.3988. A
customer service representative can
update your information while you're on
the line.
Providing this cell phone information
will help ensure the safety of a very
important member of our Cougar community -
you.
