University Purchases from Sam’s Club
Departments that want to make university
purchases from Sam’s Club should follow
these steps:
1. Complete the
online application
for a Sam’s Club Business Membership.
2. Pay for the membership ($35) with your
P-Card.
3. Use your P-Card to make all university
purchases from Sam’s.
4. Do not make personal purchases from Sam’s
with your P-Card or use your Business
Membership to make personal purchases.
5. If Sam’s issues a Discover Card for the
Business Membership, destroy it. However, do
not destroy your Sam’s Club membership card,
which is required for all Sam’s purchases.
6. Before making your first purchase, give
the Sam’s Membership Desk a copy of the UH
Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate, so
all of your purchases will be exempt from
sales tax. The Sales and Use Tax Exemption
Certificate is available
here.
The above information is not meant to
endorse the use of Sam’s Club over other
vendors, but to inform departments how to do
business with Sam’s, if they desire. As with
any other vendor, departments should only
use Sam’s Club if Sam’s offers quality
products at lower prices than the
competition. UH does not have a contract
with Sam’s Club for special pricing, and
Sam’s is not a HUB vendor.
