New Faculty Information
Contact your hiring department to ensure they have all the documentation needed to finalize your hire. Once this has been verified you should stop by the Human Resources Service Center, 325 McElhinney Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to complete an Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9), set up Direct Deposit and activate your peopleSoft account. Benefits eligible faculty should attend a benefits orientation. Please contact the HR Service Center at (713) 743 3988 to obtain information regarding the benefit orientation dates/times. You should make plans to attend orientation prior to or on your start date.
All new faculty are required to attend an annual one-day New Faculty Orientation (NFO) hosted by the Provost's Office. The event is held during the week prior to the first class day of the fall semester. This orientation focuses on your role as a faculty member at the University of Houston. A Benefits overview will be held at the NFO. Your hiring department can provide you with the event and registration details.
Once your Peoplesoft account has been established you will be able to log into the system to access the following:
People Advantage Self Service (PASS)
In PASS you can setup/edit your payroll direct deposit, access your online paystub, review your compensation history, review and update your contact information and tax withholding (W-4).
Viewing your information is as simple as signing on to P.A.S.S.
New faculty members can visit the Parking & Transportation Services Desk (112B Welcome Center) to purchase a permit. You will have the choice of paying for your permit immediately or requesting payroll deduction. Payroll deductions are done monthly. Faculty ID Card
The UH ID Card is called the Cougar 1 Card. It can be obtained through the Cougar Card office at the Welcome Center Parking Garage, Suite 101 between 7:30am and 7:00pm. A temporary identification card will be issued and your permanent card will be mailed to you. More information is available at:
