ALL university employees must complete the annual training requirement. This includes full-time and adjunct faculty, staff, student workers, and temporary employees paid through the payroll system. All mandatory trainings must be completed by November 30, 2011.
This year we return to full courses and content testing for the five primary trainings (Ethics, EEO, FERPA, Fraud, and Secure Our Systems) mandated for all UHS employees. This means there will be an individual course and quiz for each of the topics listed above.
Employees will receive a personal email when the FY12 Mandatory Training period begins October 3rd. The email will list all the trainings that each employee has been enrolled in for FY12 and will need to complete. This will include the following:
Once the FY12 Mandatory Training period begins, each employee will receive a weekly status email listing any training that has not been completed. Employees will receive this weekly status email until they have completed all the training required. Once they have successfully completed all their required.
Any System employee who fails to complete the mandatory training requirements by the deadline will not have met their job expectations and will therefore not be eligible for merit increases as stated in SAM 02.A.11 and SAM 02.A.26.
Once you receive the initial email that the FY12 Mandatory Training period has started you will be able to access your training by logging in to your UHS Online Training account at http://www.uh.edu/employeetraining using your PeopleSoft ID and date of birth (or chosen password).

The deadline for completing staff ePerformance documents has passed. Managers need to complete all outstanding employees’ ePerformance documents now. Executive’s documents need to be completed by August 31, 2011.

Executive Excellence is the upper level administration program under the umbrella of Impact UH. Designed to address the leadership skills and knowledge of University personnel at the Executive Director, Director, Associate and Assistant Director level, the program is limited to 16 selected individuals.
The program is nomination based and requires mandatory attendance at each of the ten modules associated with the program.

By late August, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) will begin mailing medical ID cards to new HealthSelectSM of Texas participants as of September 1.
Employees and dependents who are new to HealthSelect and haven’t chosen a primary care physician (PCP) should do so by calling BCBSTX Customer Service toll-free at (800) 252-8039 by Wednesday, August 17. This ensures the medical ID card lists the correct PCP. If an employee selected a PCP during Annual Enrollment, BCBSTX has the PCP information that was entered in the employee’s account on the ERS website.
Individuals are considered new to HealthSelect if:
About 3,116 dependents of employees in Phase 1 (which represents almost 140 institutions) of the dependent verification audit were dropped from health, dental, and life insurance coverage on August 1, 2011. These dependents weren’t verified as eligible for the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program.

At the direction of the Teachers Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), effective September 1, 2011, matching funds for both TRS and the Optional Retirement Fund (ORP) will change to 6.0%. However, those individuals in ORP who are grandfathered will not be affected by this change. The employee contributions for both TRS and ORP will not change. Retirement contributions and matching funds effective 9/1/2011 will be:

Human Resources is rolling out the final phase of the ePerformance employee evaluation process on Monday, May 9, 2011.
After unforeseen delays caused by the PS 9.0 upgrade and post upgrade technical issues, corrections have been made so that managers can move forward with the final phase of rating employees. The Department of Human Resources appreciates the university community’s patience through the challenges of this new product and initiative. As with most new processes we will continue to review both the ePerformance tool and the processes to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
The following information on training, next steps and deadlines will assist managers with finalizing the 2010 ePerformance process.
