Houston Scholars Seminar Series and Special Events

Fall 2017 Houston Scholars Seminar Series:

Houston Scholars students are required to participate in two faculty-led discussion seminars each semester. The discussion seminars occur on Friday afternoons in the Honors College.

  • Major Awards and Houston Scholars Reception: Wednesday, September 6, from 5-6:30pm in the Rockwell Pavilion
  • Faculty-led Seminar #1, Emergency Management: Friday, October 6, from 2-3pm in room 212S of the Honors College
  • Faculty-led Seminar #2, Tensions and Expectations in Democratic Systems: Friday, November 3, from 2-3pm in room 212S of the Honors College

Fall 2017 Additional Houston Scholars Events 

Houston Scholars are also encouraged to participate in additional programming offered as part of your membership.  This programming is designed to assist you with achieving your future academic and career goals. 

  • Donut Happy Hour: Friday, October 20, from 9-10am in room 212D of the Honors College
    • Upcoming competitive scholarship opportunities will be discussed
  • Donut Happy Hour: Friday, November 17, from 9-10am in room 212D of the Honors College
    • Competitive research opportunities (e.g. REUs) will be highlighted
