Honors Housing Offers Choice of Communities

The Honors College on-campus community has made its home in the Quadrangle, in Law and Taub, for decades. In 2010, incoming Honors students (and many continuing students) moved to the newly built Cougar Village. Starting in the fall of 2011, Honors students may choose to live in the Honors communities in Cougar Village or Taub Hall.
The Honors College housing in Cougar Village will encompass all six "neighborhoods" (neighborhoods are groups of 16 rooms, separated from the other rooms by a lounge or kitchenette) on the 6th floor as well as a few neighborhoods on the 5th floor. Some single rooms on the 7th floor are also available. These rooms are configured similarly to those in the Quad – two-room suites with a shared bathroom and moveable furniture.
Taub Hall has enjoyed a long history as home to Honors students and will be part of the exciting Quadrangle renovation this summer. Taub will enjoy aesthetic upgrades that include a remodeled lounge, new flooring, new painting, new or updated furniture, new window treatments, bathroom enhancements, and a micro-fridge in every room.
In general, freshmen will make their homes in Cougar Village. Following their freshman year, Honors students may choose whether to remain in Cougar Village or move to Taub Hall. In addition, those Honors student who have a non-Honors roommate can now be accommodated in the Taub Hall community.
Incoming students or those who do not currently live on-campus should apply for Honors Housing by May 1. To reserve your room or apply for housing, please visit the Residential Life and Housing website at http://www.housing.uh.edu
