This application is for prospective or current University of Houston students who have earned college credits after graduating from high school. The Honors College welcomes applications from students who are enrolled at the University of Houston or transferring from other colleges and universities. (If you have not completed at least one semester in residence at a college or university, please use our freshman application to the Honors College.)

University of Houston Admission

If you are a transfer student, you must be admitted to both the University of Houston and the Honors College. A separate application for admission to the University of Houston can be accessed online at www.applytexas.org. 

For additional information on applying as a transfer to the University of Houston, visit www.uh.edu/admissions/undergraduate. The deadlines for transfer students to submit an application for admission to the University of Houston are June 1 and December 1 for the fall and spring semesters, respectively.

Financial Aid

If you intend to apply for need-based grants or loans, you must file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You can apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The University of Houston school code is 003652.

Honors College Application Submission Dates

Applications to the Honors College are accepted year-round. Late applications will automatically be considered for the following semester.

December 1: Priority consideration application date for fall semester admission to the Honors College.

April 1: University of Houston application and supporting documents deadline. Deadline to apply to the Honors College for fall semester admission. Deadline to submit all supporting documents to the Honors College for fall semester admission.

December 1: Deadline to apply for spring semester admission. Deadline to submit all supporting documents to the Honors College for spring semester admission.

Application Checklist

  • Completed Honors College application
  • Resume listing interests and activities
  • 3-5 page double-spaced academic essay, such as a literary analysis or research paper with a central thesis and supporting arguments
  • copies of previous college transcripts (if transcripts are already at the University of Houston Office of Admissions, you do not need to send additional copies to the Honors College, although including an unofficial transcript can expedite the processing of your application)
