Honors College Application Submission Dates

Applications to the Honors College are accepted year-round. Late applications will automatically be considered for the following semester. Apply early, as the class may fill before the deadline.

December 1: Priority consideration application date for fall semester admission to both the Honors College and the University of Houston.

April 1: Deadline to apply for fall semester admission to the University of Houston and to the Honors College. Supporting documents deadline for fall semester admission.

December 1: Deadline to apply for spring semester admission. Supporting documents deadline for spring semester admission to the Honors College.

All applications should include the following:

  • a full length academic essay of three to five pages (300 word minimum), such as a literary analysis or research paper with a central thesis and strong supporting arguments 
  • list of interests and activities
  • high school transcript and any college transcripts
  • SAT or ACT score report

If you have already sent transcripts and test scores to the Office of Admissions, it is not necessary to send a second copy to the Honors College; however, an unofficial transcript included with your supporting materials may expedite the processing of your application.

Submit your essay as an email attachment to honors@uh.edu in one of the following formats: Text (.txt), Pages (.pages), Word Document (.doc), or Rich Text (.rtf). Ensure that your email has your full name and your date of birth in the subject line.
