The Honors College seeks to equip its students with the best an undergraduate education can offer: an appreciation and understanding of the great books and the liberal arts, coupled with the practical advantages inherent to pursuing an undergraduate degree at a large, resource-intensive university. A significant part of the Honors experience at the University of Houston is the opportunity to develop mentoring relationships with dedicated faculty from the various disciplines and to take advantage of specialized, intensive course offerings within the majors. The Honors College affiliation opens doors for students not only during their college years, but also during the graduate school process and into the student's chosen profession. Although these practical advantages can be described by discipline, their value to the student is ultimately incalculable.
