Excellent Amateurs: Trey Wilkinson

Trey Wilkinson: CEO of Trinity Legacy Partners & amateur golfer

Trey WilkinsonIn August, Trey Wilkinson, '92, was runner-up in the 100th playing of the Carnegie Shield Tournament at Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Scotland.

The world-famous amateur competition featured 170 players from around the world.

Wilkinson, who made it through two qualifying rounds and four matches, was the highest-finishing American and defeated the defending champion along the way. He lost in the final round 5&3 against local Scotsman Chris Mailley.

Golf is a passion for Wilkinson, who has been playing since grade school and was on the University team from 1988-92. He tries to play on the weekends and enters local competitions when he can.

The Carnegie Shield Tournament was "one of the highest accomplishments I’ve ever done," Wilkinson said. "It was awesome."

Wilkinson, who competed in the tournament twice previously, hopes to make it to the finals again one day. And, though it would have been nice to win, Wilkinson wasn’t upset about coming in second place.

"There’s something proper about a Scotsman winning the 100th Carnegie Shield," he said.
