Dr. Nash joined the Honors College in 2016 as faculty for the Medicine and Society program. His graduate work was in philosophy (MA, PhD) and public health (MPH) at the University of Tennessee. He moved to Houston in 2014 and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship with the Center for Humanities and Ethics in McGovern Medical School, where he continues to teach in family medicine and psychiatry.

His research focuses on the integration of narrative medicine, literary studies, and reflective writing in health and medical education. His work has appeared in JAMA, Academic Medicine, Bellevue Literary Review, Literature and Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Cambridge Quarterly of Healthcare Ethics, and the Journal of Medical Humanities. He has written about David Foster Wallace, Walker Percy, Jack Gilbert, and Cormac McCarthy.

In addition to teaching in Honors, Dr. Nash oversees UH's Medicine and the Arts series, which includes biweekly round table discussions, guest lectures, movie nights, and special events, such as a medicine-oriented tour at the Museum of Fine Arts.
