The Hobby School of Public Affairs is offering two $1000 scholarships for undergraduate students interested in working a short internship (8 hours per week) and writing a paper on some aspect of ethics and public policy during the spring semester, 2019. Students will enroll in POLS 4398 Special Problems and work an internship in some area of public policy. During the semester, they will also meet periodically with Professor Engster in the Hobby School to develop a topic and write an independent research paper on some aspect of ethics and public policy. Possible topics might include reforms to the education system, immigration, health care, prison, and so forth.
Students must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Houston during the spring semester of 2019, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.

2. Resume: Please list GPA, relevant work experience, and extracurricular activites.
3. Personal Statement: Explain why you are applying for an internship and independent study on ethics and public policy, and what areas of public policy you might like to work and write your paper.
Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria: GPA, work and extracurricular activites, quality of personal statement, availability of an internship in the student's interest area.
