About Us

The University of Houston Student Health Center is a comprehensive primary Health Care Facility. We offer affordable and accessible quality primary medical and mental health care. Our Pharmacy offers prescription and non-prescription medications at competitive prices often lower than off campus.

Accreditation

The University of Houston Student Health Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Accreditation distinguishes our UH Student Health Center from many other out-patient facilities by assuring that the highest quality of care is delivered to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.

Status as an accredited organization means that the UH Student Health Center has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC.

Eligibility Requirements

All currently enrolled students at the University of Houston are eligible for all services of the Student Health Center. A valid picture ID is required at check-in.

UH Students Under the Age of 18 Years Old

An Authorization for Treatment of a Minor Form is required to be completed by a parent or legal guardian for a UH students under the age of 18 before an appointment can be scheduled at the Student Health Center.

Financial Information

The Student Health Center accepts commercial third-party insurance for pharmacy and eligible laboratory services. All other services are billed directly to the patient at a self-pay rate and a statement suitable for insurance claim submission is available through the Healthy Coog Patient Portal.

A fee is charged for professional services (office visits). An additional fee is charged for medications, laboratory services, procedures, supplies, injections, etc. based on the plan of treatment and the type of services provided.

Student Health Insurance

A Student Health Insurance Plan, endorsed by and designed especially for the University of Houston System, is available to all eligible UH student. The University of Houston strongly encourages all students to carry health insurance; however insurance is not required to be seen by our health care professionals. Students will be seen in the Student Health Center with or without health insurance. A statement suitable for submission to their insurance will be provided.

Patient Privacy

Privacy laws prohibit sharing information without authorized consent from the patient. In order to share information with the parents, the student must complete an Authorization to Release Medical Records Form for the specific treatment date.

In the event of a life-threatening emergency situation here at the UH Student Health Center, you will be contacted if you are listed as the student's emergency contact on their medical history form.
