The College is guided by its “Collaboration for Learning and Leading” motto and six guiding values and commitments: knowledge, skills, and dispositions: instructional and informational technology; diversity: professional development; assessment; and standards. The college offers a range of graduate programs. The Master of Education and Doctor of Education degrees are offered from the Departments of Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership and Cultural Studies, Educational Psychology, and Health and Human Performance. A Master of Science degree is offered by the Department of Health and Human Performance. Doctor of Philosophy degrees are offered in Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology and Individual Differences, and Kinesiology. The college offers the Provisional and the Professional Teaching Certificate, Texas Standard Principal Certificate, superintendent, counselor, educational diagnostician, generic special education, and reading specialist. Endorsement for certificates may be secured in bilingual education, English as a second language, gifted and talented education, and early childhood education. Specific requirements for graduate and certification programs are listed in each department's section. Accreditation and MembershipsThe College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Its doctoral program in Counseling Psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association.The college's educator certification programs are authorized by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC). The College is a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), the Texas Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (TACTE), and the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA).
