Admission Requirements: College of Technology
The following are minimum requirements for unconditional admission to the College of Technology's graduate programs. See the specific department and major for special admission requirements.
The applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.00 (A=4.00) on the most recent 60 semester hours of undergraduate coursework. A University of Houston application for graduate studies must be submitted along with transcripts of all college-level course credit and a $75 graduate application fee. International graduate students must have a TOEFL score of at least 79 on the iBT and must pay an additional $75 application evaluation fee.
Admission will depend on grade point average, applicable test scores, and other information. Conditional admission may be granted to students who have a grade point average in the range of 2.75 to 2.99 in their last 60 hours of undergraduate course work. Contact the Graduate Advisor for additional requirements.
Applicable Course Credit
Pre-Grad is a non-degree seeking status allowing students to enroll in up to, but not more than, 12 graduate level credits prior to graduate admission. Students in this non-degree seeking status are not guaranteed admission to the graduate program, nor do they qualify for financial aid or scholarships. Minimum requirements for this status include a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and a 2.75 cumulative GPA in the last 60 credit hours of course work. Additional academic background may be required to enroll in some courses. Please see a graduate advisor for additional information. Pre-Grad students should apply to the graduate program no later than the end of their first semester if they wish to become degree seeking. To become degree seeking, all Pre-Grad students must apply to a graduate program and be accepted.
Any course(s) taken prior to admission to the program, whether on-campus or off-campus, cannot be applied to more than one degree program. For details, consult the Academic Regulations and Degree Requirements section of this catalog.
Only students who have been admitted to a graduate program or Pre-Grad program will be permitted to enroll in graduate courses in the College of Technology. Exceptions require the Dean's approval.
