6304: Mask Practicum
Cr. 3. (3-0). An intensive study of the evolution of masks in theatre with an emphasis on production and contemporary technology.

6305: Movement for the Actor
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: approval of director of graduate studies. Study and application of movement training methods for performance.

6311: Theatre Practicum
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: graduate standing in HFA program and approval of director of graduate studies. Advanced creative work, under faculty supervision, in selected areas of theatre production. May be repeated for credit.

6312: Design Portfolio
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: THEA 3362, THEA 3385 and THEA 3387. Integration, consolidation, and coordination of previous design work in scenic, costume, and/or lighting design to achieve professional presentation standards. Prepares student to meet professional expectations in portfolio presentation.

6313: Acting in Comedy and Farce
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: consent of instructor. Application of advanced acting techniques to comedy/farce through monologues and scene work drawn from contemporary plays.

6314: Five Approaches to Acting
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: consent of instructor. Acting methods: Stanislavski, episodic, masks, cultural anthropology, and storytelling.

6320: Stage Management
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: graduate standing or consent of instructor. Techniques of planning, organizing, rehearsing, and running theatrical productions as stage manager, with emphasis on management strategies to serve differing situations.

6321: Scene Painting
Cr. 3. Prerequisite: graduate standing or consent of instructor. Series of demonstrations and practical application projects using materials, tools, and the techniques of textural and illusionistic scenic art.

6335: Scenery and Lighting Design

6336: Technical Production
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of director of graduate studies in theatre. Visual elements (scenic, costume, and lighting design) in a production as approached by the designer, director, and actor.

6337: Makeup Design and Technology
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: consent of the instructor and successful demonstration of introductory makeup design and technology. May be repeated for credit.

6338: Musical Theatre Collaboration
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of instructor. Techniques of collaboration for composers, lyricists, bookwriters, directors, choreographers, producers, and designers in performance of new musical theatre works.

6339: Directing Shakespeare
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of director of graduate studies in theatre. An examination and analysis of selected Shakespeare texts from the perspective of editing, interpretation, and staging.

6340: Costume History
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of director of graduate studies in theatre. Survey of costume history and design from Egyptian through modern times, with a concentration on the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries.

6341: Theatre Sound Design
Cr. 3. (3-0). A Study of the use of reproduced and reinforced sound in theatre productions including traditional methods, current technology, and the techniques and practical skills of sound design.

6343: Voice for the Theatre
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: THEA 3331 or equivalent, or approval of Director of Graduate Studies in Theatre. Overview and comparison of current methods of vocal training, development of director's skill in recognizing, identifying, and correcting vocal problems as they arise in rehearsal.

6345: Dialects for the Stage

6348: Improvisation for Actors
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: THEA 1338 and THEA 1339. Acting exercises to unlock and unblock self to allow truth in character portrayal.

Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: THEA 3385 or consent of instructor. Basic techniques incorporated into a comprehensive approach to scene design with assignments in the conceptual analysis and fulfillment of projects covering a wide variety of genres.

6351: Acting Through Props
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: Consent of the instructor. Advanced acting concentrating on character development through the use of props and body.

6352: Advanced Lighting Design
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: THEA 6351 or consent of the instructor. Implementation of lighting ideas, practice in the translation of ideas into actual designs, light plots, paperwork, use of equipment and the exploration of lighting styles.

Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite; consent of the instructor. The theory, practice, and history of scenic design with emphasis on the development and communication of ideas, script, analysis, visual research, and design concepts.

6354: Advanced Scenic Design

6357: Applied Theatre: Alley Theatre in Production
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: consent of the instructor. An examination of all aspects of performance, production and management of a professional regional theatre from first rehearsal through opening night.

6360: Theatrical Wig Construction and Styling
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: THEA 2366 or THEA 6366 and consent of instructor. Fundamental techniques of ventilating, styling, and fronting human and synthetic hair wigs for use in theatrical productions. May repeat once for credit.

Cr. 3. (2-2). Prerequisite: Costume Design I and consent of instructor. Fundamentals of costume design as they apply to choreography, dance, and music with implementation into realized production values.

6372: Playwriting Workshop

Cr. 3. (2-3). Prerequisite: THEA 2335 or consent of instructor. Theory and practice of building theatrical clothing and costume properties. Costume construction techniques, drafting, draping, sewing, fitting, millinery, jewelry making, painting, dyeing, and accessory crafting.

6374: Playwrights in Production
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of Director of Graduate Studies in Theatre. May be repeated for credit. The collaboration of playwrights, directors, and dramaturgs in the development and production of original material concluding in a staged production.

6376: Elizabethan Theatre History
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: approval of Director of Graduate Studies in Theatre. Study of the English theatre 1560 to 1642 with special emphasis on theatre architecture and staging practices.
