Cr. 3. (3-0). Introduction to descriptive research methodologies used in music education.

6310: Trends in Music Education
Cr. 3. (3-0). May be repeated for credit for maximum of 6 credits. Evolving issues important to the music educator.

6315: Concepts in Music Education
Cr. 3. (3-0). Examination of the foundations and underlying principles of music education, including introduction to music education and philosophy, social psycology, multicultrualism, research, assessment, and comparative music education.

6320: Seminar in Music Elementary Education
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: consent of instructor. May be repeated for a maximum of six semester hours with approval of advisor. Problems in public school music, materials, curriculum, supervision, and administration.

6322: Instrumental Music Teaching, Grades 4-12
Cr. 3. (3-0). Rehearsal techniques, error detection, score reading, and materials appropriate for elementary and secondary instrumental instruction.

6330: Music in Early Childhood
Cr. 3. (3-0). Methods and materials for preschool through first grade children. Available to early childhood, elementary, and music education graduate students.

6431: Kodaly Certification Level I
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 4305 or consent of instructor. Philosophy and teaching techniques for the Kodaly methodology in American pre-kindergarten and kindergarten music classes. Includes personal musicianship, conducting, folk music and pedagogical materials collection/analysis, and choral ensemble rehearsal/performance.

6432: Kodaly Certification Level II
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 6431, MUED 4305,or consent of instructor. Philosophy and teaching techniques for the Kodaly methodology in American first and second grade music classes. Includes personal musicianship, conducting, folk music and pedagogical materials collection/analysis, and choral ensemble rehearsal/performance.

6433: Kodaly Certification Level III
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 6432, MUED 4305,or consent of instructor. Philosophy and teaching techniques for the Kodaly methodology in American third and fourth grade music classes. Includes personal musicianship, conducting, folk music and pedagogical materials collection/analysis, and choral ensemble rehearsal/performance.

6434: Kodaly Certification Level IV
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 6433, MUED 4305,or consent of instructor. Philosophy and teaching techniques for the Kodaly methodology in American fifth and sixth grade music classes. Includes personal musicianship, conducting, folk music and pedagogical materials collection/analysis, and choral ensemble rehearsal/performance.

7305: Teaching for Music Understanding, Grades K-12
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 6315. Methods and materials for teaching music content appropriate to public school clases.

7310: Public School Music Rehearsal and Management
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 6325. Techniques for efficient rehearsal and music management.

7330: Psychological Foundations of Music Learning, Grades K-12
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 6315. Overview of the psychological aspects of music learning, testing musical aptitude, and achievement appropriate to public school music clases.

7335: Applications of Music Education Pedagogy and Research
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 6301, MUED 6310 ,or approval of Coordinator of Music Education. Application of current trends in music education pedagogy and research to music instruction. Repeated for credit until completion of final project.

8310: History of Music Education in the United States
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 6315. Survey of the establishment of music teaching in the New World from 1523 to the present.

8311: Educating Pre-Service Teachers
Cr. 3. (3-0). Introduction of topics related to teaching music education in a college setting and discussion of undergraduate curricula and expectations for teaching undergraduate music education majors.

8321: Design and Skills of Experimental Research in Music Education
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: MUED 7330. Development of skills in and understanding of experimental techniques and psychological processes involved in music education research.

8394: Scholarship and Issues in Music Education
Cr. 3. (3-0). Research initiation and study of special issues and documents in music education. May be repeated with change of topic.
