Law Center
External Affairs
The Office of External Affairs helps organize alumni participation, administers
the fund-raising programs and coordinates events at The Law Center.
A 20-member Alumni Board of Directors meets monthly to plan alumni activities,
as well as to serve in an advisory capacity to the dean. The alumni board
sponsors various programs throughout the year, including the Student-Alumni
Picnic, the Annual Spring Luncheon and Meeting, the Annual Law Center Gala &
Auction, the Dean's Holiday Coffee, the Law Center Commencement Reception, the
Law Fund, and various other special alumni events. All Law Center graduates are
automatically members of the Alumni Association.
The University of Houston Law Foundation is a nonprofit corporation approved to
receive and administer funds contributed to it for the benefit of the Law
Center. The Law Foundation maintains separate endowments for various
scholarship funds and student activities, endowed faculty positions, academic
program support, and general unrestricted gifts.
The A. A. White Society is an organization honoring the founding dean of the
Law Center at the University of Houston. Membership is composed of alumni and
friends of the Law Center who are committed to excellence in legal education.
Private support through the annual fund drive, the A. A. White Society, and
major contributions to the Law Foundation is critical to the continued academic
strength of the Law Center. Several additional named scholarship and loan funds
are available. Private contributions also make possible recognition and support
for individual faculty.
