College of Liberal Arts and Social SciencesMaster of Fine ArtsDegree RequirementsUsually after a semester in residence, students must give evidence of scholastic ability before the school will accept them formally into the Master of Fine Arts Program. Students must complete a minimum of 45 semester hours in graduate courses, including THEA 6331, THEA 6362, THEA 6397 and one of the following THEA 6353, THEA 6355, THEA 6377, and a nine-semester-hour internship with a professional theatre establishment approved by the school director. Beyond fulfilling these requirements, students and their graduate advisors will tailor the program of study to suit students' individual needs and to prepare students for careers in professional theatre. The school also may require the student's proficiency in a foreign language if the student's area of specialization warrants it.
